Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 9

"If the day should ever come when your lord father had to choose between honor on one hand and family on the other, what would he do?"

"Baelor"
spoilers below the cut

"I think it wasn't fair the way HBO advertised this show before it aired. Sean Bean/Eddard Stark was advertised as the star of the show, was the face of every preview and ever poster. Come on, the audiences came to see Sean Bean, and he was the center of the show. And then they kill him off before teh (sic) first season is even over?"

Some people make me sad. In response to this, I posted movie posters of Janet Leigh in Psycho and Drew Barrymore in Scream.

To put it in perspective... I like watching Animal Cops on Animal Planet. They run different Animal Cops shows in several cities... and at one point I noticed that Animal Cops: Phoenix, never told the sad stories where a rescued animal would sometimes have to be put down. It became my least favorite Animal Cops show... not because I'm an animal snuff guy, but because there's not the same level of emotional investment when I know that everything is going to end well. And that's one of the things I love about this series... it keeps me off balance, because in the next chapter, another one of my favorites may die.

The closing scene was amazing, just leaves my heart in my throat every time I watch it. The only negative I have is the actual falling of the sword. It looked to me like it missed him, then I played it in slow motion, and it does actually slice right through his neck. I think it's just a bad special effect.

Storywise, I love the reveal that Maester Aemon on the wall was a potential Targaryen heir, even if it is a little implausible that he was simply forgotten about.

Tyrion and Bronn are a lot of fun together; not caring for Shae at this point. They're portraying her as a little too angry and losing the aspect of her character that she's a witty match for Tyrion. The bit where Tyrion seems to be floating, and as he comes to it becomes more obvious that he's being dragged on a piece of wood, was a pretty great visual.

"We could do it your way, Kingslayer. You'd win. We're not doing it your way." Robb's best moment so far.

Last episode this weekend, it's all over too soon. At least there'll be True Blood to ease my pain, and Torchwood: Miracle Day right behind it.
